One of the upshots of being more or less confined to bed for the weekend is it really helps you kick one's caffeine addiction. I doubt I have any serious addiction to speak of, but I've had a headache from time to time that I'd wish I hadn't. Anyway, it wasn't so bad. I weaned myself off fairly easily, having a tea or two, and basically just sleeping through the worst of it.
Now that I'm back at work, I noticed that the Roll up the Rim to Win contest is well and truly over. My results: "Please Play Again"... Twenty-one times. Bad IT Professional. No free coffee for you.
Felt the oncoming of a cold Wednesday, and thought I'd stay home Thursday to try to just relax and rest and hope it didn't become a full blown whatever. But sadly no. Missed Thursday, and Friday, and was feeling pretty blah for most of the weekend.
One good thing though, Dare called me on Friday, and we talked for a while. She's getting settled in after the move. There's still a lot of stuff to be done, painting and unpacking and whatnot, but I was very glad to hear from her after a week of being incommunicado.
The marks for my Crypto class are in. I scored a respectable 85%. Not quite as well as I was hoping for, but given how little I studied for the final exam, I can't complain all that much. Next up, I'm taking a break from Mathematics, and I'm going back to Japanese. I've enrolled in Japanese 102 for the summer. Which I think I've mentioned earlier, was a night class.
Had a fabulous time the past couple of days seeing a zillion people I hadn't seen in forever. Thursday was sort of a Last Hurrah party at Higher Ground, as Sportsworld is, at least partly, going to be torn down to make way for ProgressTM, and all sorts of climbers I hadn't seen in forever showed up.
Yesterday was Take Back the Lounge day at school, and again, I saw lots of friends, and met a few new ones.
Towards the end of the evening however, I, in an attempt to wittily prove a point, said something that in hindsight could have been interpreted as me making a very pointed, and hurtful comment about someone else at the table at the time. It really wasn't meant in that context, and I've been feeling like a bloody clod all day today.
So if no one can remember what the hell I'm talking about, then no harm done. But yeah, if you can, then sorry about that. I really didn't mean anything about anyone specific.
The Faculty I support does the Globe and Mail cryptic crossword at lunch time here, and while in the past I've often been content to simply look over their shoulders, I've taken to contributing here and there.
Naturally, I suck. I've been contributing one or two answers per crossword so far, and have been feeling somewhat pleased with myself, though the feeling is muted slightly when the others just burn through the rest of the clues. The Globe's crossword isn't a bad one, but it's a bit challenging to start with. Games Magazine has a second publication, World of Puzzles that includes a few cryptic crosswords within its pages that are a much better starting point. I looked at one of those over the weekend, and managed to get most of the way through a crossword on my own.
The past week has been grey and rainy and cold. Didn't get much of a chance to ride my bike, but this coming week looks much better.
Oh, and I bought my first track off of the iTunes Music Service. Dani California from the upcoming RHCP album. Whee!
